The Cycle
The time is finally here to begin your IVF cycle. Each surrogacy situation is unique, and so is each cycle. The medicines chosen by each reproductive specialist vary depending on each surrogate's medical health and the physician's preference. There are some doctor that prefer doing a natural cycle (without meds), while others prefer to control the surrogate's body with a very large quantity of hornones and medications.
Traditional, Gestational and Egg Donors Cycles
Traditional Surrogacy Cycle
The traditional surrogacy cycle is a much more natural cycle since the surrogate is using her own eggs to achieve pregnancy. Her body will naturally release an egg(s) during her monthly cycle and she will attempt fertilization during this time. There are several methods of doing this.
Gestational Surrogacy Cycle
Step 1: Ovarian Stimulation with Fertility Medication
Step 2: Oocyte (Egg) Retrieval
Step 3: Sperm Collection and Preparation
Step 4: Insemination of Eggs and Development of Embryos in the Laboratory
Step 5: Embryo Transfer |

Egg Donor Cycle
The egg donor will also undergo a cycle of medications to stimulate her ovaries to produce a larger quantity of eggs. The eggs will be retrieved by the physician and fertilized by the father's sperm before being transferred into th surrogate mother's uterus.
